Streamyx email setup guide

 

This is a guide to setup your email client (ex. Outlook Express or Windows Mail) to use the email service from Streamyx.  When you first register for a broadband service with TMnet Streamyx, you will be given an email address together with a password. If you feel that you want to use this email as your primary email address, you can set-up the email client to download the email for you and read it later. This is the guide to teach you how to get it done using Windows Mail, an email client that come together with the Windows Vista.
 
Check-list:-
 

  • Streamyx email address (ex. name@streamyx.com).
  • Streamyx password – ( provided during your streamyx account registration ).
  • Computer with Windows Mail – ( email client that come together with the Windows Vista).
  • Internet connection.
  • A cup of black coffee – ( a drink after successfully setup the email service ).

 
Once your check list is ready, we can start.
 

Step one

  • Start your Windows Mail program. ( If you don’t know where to start, please click the “START” button, the one with Microsoft logo and select “All Program”. A list of installed program will come out. Click program name Windows Mail, and you email client shall start.
  •  

  • Go to the program menu at the top left of your Windows Mail and select the “Tool” tab follow by “Accounts”.

  • A new window will pop up. Select the “Add” button. This is to add a new email account into your email client so that you can use it to check your email in future.
  •

  • After you have click the “Add” button, you will be ask to select type of account that you would like to create. Select “E-mail Account” from the list and click “Next” button.

  • A new window will pop up again. This is where you type your name. You can use any name. So when you send an email to someone, this name will show up in the “From” column of your receipient’s email.
  •  

  • After you have type in your name, proceed with clicking the “Next” button.

  • A new window will shows up for you to enter your email address. Here you need to type you streamyx email address. The one you that you had chosen during the streamyx account registration. Your email will need t be in complete format (ex. name@streamyx.com). Click “Next” button to proceed.

  • Once you click the “Next” button, a new window will pop up requesting some email servers information. Please enter the following infomation.
  •  

  • Incoming e-mail server type = pop3
  •  

  • Incoming mail (pop3 or imap) server = pop.streamyx.com
  •  

  • Outgoing e-mail server (smtp) name = smtp.streamyx.com
  •  

  • Make sure the “Outgoing server requires authentication” is checked as well.
  •  

  • Click “Next” button to proceed.

  • In the internet mail logon window, type in your e-mail username and also the password.
  •  

  • The username should be something like this , for example name@streamyx.com
  •  

  • The password is the password given by streamyx during registration.
  •  

  • Make sure the “Remember password” is checked so that you don’t need to enter your login information everytime you send or receiving emails.
  •  

  • Click “Next” button to proceed.

  • A “Congratulations” window will pop up. You are half way done at this moment.
  •  

  • Make sure the “Do not download my e-mail at this time” is checked.
  •  

  • Click “Finish” button to proceed.

  • A window name ” Intenet Accounts” will pop up. Notice that at the Mail section you will have an account that you just newly setup. The account name should be something like “pop.streamyx.com (default)”. I not saying that it’s wrong to use this name but to simplify things, you might need to rename the mail account name to something that easily to remember. In the future you might setup more than one email account with this email client. If you rename this account to something unique , then you can easily manage each account and would not mix up the whole thing.
  •  

  • To rename this account to something unique, first select the account name. In this case select “pop.streamyx.com (default)” in the mail section and then click on “Properties”.
  •  

  • A new window with five menus tab will pop up. You can tweak some settings here to get it work smoothly.

  • STREAMYX. So in future you will know that this is the streamyx email account setting.
  •  

  • At the user information section, you can input your organization name and also your reply address. What does this mean? Well , “organization” area is where you input your company name if you have one. Remember this is optional. You  can also input something fancy , it’s all under you imagination boundry. The “reply address” is where you input your second email address if you have any). This will be the email address your receipient will send their reply to. If you do not input anything here, the default will be you streamyx email.
  •  

  • Make sure the “Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing” is checked.

  • Proceed to the next menu tab and do the necessary setting.
  •  

  • Follow all the setting as show in the image below accordingly.

  • Finally click “Apply” button and then “OK” button. 
  •  

  • Click the “Close” button, and you are all set to send and received your email using this account.
  •  

  • Test run your setting by sending a mail to someone. After you have send it, you should see the sent copy of the mail at the “Sent Folder”.
